Artwork for printing on promotional pencils should be supplied as a vector eps file for Illustrator. All text should be saved as curves/outlines. For digitally printed pencils we can also use a hi res jpeg (300 dpi or higher).
If this causes a problem, please let us know and we’ll be happy to talk about other options. If needed, we are happy to re-draw simple designs free of charge. More complicated designs may incur an additional cost (subject to sight of design).
The print area for each pencil is shown on the individual product pages. Unless specified, the size and positioning of the printing will be at the discretion of the printer. We always provide a pdf proof for your approval prior to printing the final order.
For screen printing we use pantone references (usually coated or ‘c’ references – please note that these can be different from the equivalent ‘u’ or uncoated references which are often used when printing on paper) and are only able to print solid colours. Any tints in a design usually have to be treated as a separate colour. Full colour digital printing is available on several of our pencils and this uses a digital full colour process which allows the printing of unlimited colours and tints, but means exact pantone matches can’t be guaranteed.
Printed colours will come out differently on different substrates, so a specific blue printed on a pencil may not match the same blue printed on a mug. This is the case for both solid colour printing and full colour digital printing. Every care will be taken to achieve the desired effect but if a specific colour match is required we recommend a pre-production proof is ordered (this may incur an extra charge and may add additional production time).
Please do not colour match using any emailed artwork or online screen images as a computer image is not an accurate colour match of either the finished artwork or the product colour.
Please call us on (01206) 272020 or e-mail us at sales@buildinglink.co.uk if you have any questions or would like help regarding the design of your personalised pencils.
PLEASE NOTE: as pencils contain natural graphite in their leads, it is likely that graphite dust will settle on the pencil barrels during transit. This can be removed with a damp cloth.
